The Slamball court is 55 feet wide, and 94 feet long. The basket is 10 feet from the back edge of the court. An 8 feet high plexi-glass wall similar to that used in ice hockey surrounds the entire court. There are 8 rectangular trampolines on positioned on the court (4 at each end). With each trampoline having a bounce area that measures 14 feet long and 7 feet wideEquipment
The safety equipment that must be worn by players includes helmets, elbow and knee pads.Teams
Each team has as squad of 8 players. During a game only 4 players may be on court.Bounce Off
Both halves of the game start with a bounce off. No player may make contact with the ball from when it was bounced until it has reached the top of it's bounce (when it's bout to start dropping back down the the floor again). At this point the players may check each other, and all players are allowed to make contact. During the bounce off all players must be at center court.Substitutions
Substitutions occur during the game without stoppages. The exiting player must be within 5 feet of his own teams box before the player entering can come onto the court.Slam Zone Rules
(The Slam Zone is the area under each basket that has the 4 trampolines and the island)Defenders cannot follow offensive player into the SlamZone.
As soon as the offensive player is airborne entering the Slam Zone (they have made their last contact with the court floor upon entering the Slam Zone) no defender can make contact with the player.
Any contact will result in a face off between the defender and the offensive player they make contact with.
If it is a close call then the offensive player will be given the decision.
Even if a defender is holding their position, they cannot draw a charge once the offensive player is airborne.
The offense cannot enter the SlamZone after a loose ball. Only offensive players already in the SlamZone can retrieve the ball. (Breaking this rule will result in a turnover of possession).
Defenders cannot intentionally attack the body of the offensive player when they are attempting to dunk – only attempts at the ball are allowed. (Personal foul, possible flagrant - resulting in a face off.) Defensive players do not have to abide by the 2 bounce rule if they are in the bottom trampoline (the one under the basket) and may bounce continually. They must only just straight up and down without moving outside of the area of the trampoline while airborne (Personal foul. Result: face off)
If an offensive player enters the red square of the trampoline bed from an outside trampoline and makes contact with a defender who has been maintaining a bounce in the same square, it will result in a no call.
If the defender is maintaining a bounce outside of the red square and an offensive player enters the trampoline, making contact, it will result in a foul against the defender (Personal foul. Result: face off).
A defender must not disturb the natural flow of an offensives players bounce in or out of the trampoline. This is known as popcorn. (Personal foul. Result: face off)
There must be absolutely no contact on the bed (the bouncy area) of the trampoline.
An offensive player may not attack the bottom trampoline (the one under the basket) directly with the ball. They may only do so if they have received a pass from one of the other trampolines. A penalty results in a turnover.
There must never be two players from the same team on the same trampoline bed at the same time. Breaking this rule will result in a change of possession.
Only one bounce in and out of a trampoline is allowed by a players unless they have made a play on the ball or the rim – in which case they get another bounce. A play on the ball or the ring includes: Attempting a dunk, lay-up, jump shot or a pass. Penalty results in a change of possession.
Players must be allowed to land by any member of the opposing team when they are exiting a trampoline. No contact is allowed to be made.
Shots taken from a trampoline may be legally goal tended, but shots from the floor may not. A goal tended shot from the floor will be counted as a successful shot. Shots from the floor may only be blocked before the ball has reached the apex of it’s arc.
Players may only use the ring to stabilise themselves and not to gain a positional advantage.
There will be no call made for offensive goal tending.
There is a fifteen second shot clock which will restart with any shot attempts that hit the ring, any blocked shot or dunk attempts.
Island
The island is the area between the trampolines where a player can momentarily take position to move the ball in an offensive set. They may also stop short in the SlamZone to allow them to move in a different direction. No contact is allowed on the island. Defenders are not permitted to draw a charge, or make any contact at all from the island. If a defender makes contact with an offensive player on the island it will result in a face off.
A defender on the island may make accidental contact with an offensive player when going for a loose ball.
No two players from the same team are allowed on the island at the same time. A play may however bounce to a perimeter trampoline and return to the island. Penalty: Change of possession.
A three second rule applies to the island. Remaining on the island for three seconds will result in a change of possession.
Offensive players cannot attack the bottom trampoline from the island at all.
Traveling
Players may only take two steps after stopping a dribble. Penalty: Change of possession.A bounce into the trampoline does not count as a step.
If a defender makes contact with an offensive player, causing an extra step, a travelling call cannot be called.
After contact the offensive players dribble becomes live.
An offensive player may balm the ball while dribbling.
Open Court
A defensive play may only make contact with an offensive player from the waist up.On a body check, players may not extend their arms above shoulder height. Personal foul. Result: face off.
Tripping, grabbing and holding of players are illegal.
Only accidental contact is allowed with the player on the ball before they have used their dribble. After the ball has touched the ground for the dribble, contact is allowed. After the dribble defenders may still make contact with the player.
Defenders making contact with the ball without contacting the player is legal.
Hand checking is allowed after the player starts their dribble, but a holding violation is awarded if there is excessive hand checking.
Held balls always go to the defense.
It is legal to kick the ball in both offense and defence.
If a defender traps the offensive player against the glass, it will be considered as a held ball. There will be a three second count and possession of the ball will be awarded to the defence.
Hands may not be used to push or pull an opponent. This will result in a personal foul/possible face off.
There will be no call for charging.
A player running on the plexi-glass wall cannot be contacted by another player while doing so.
If the ball goes out of bounds, possession will be given the the team that has the possession arrow in their favour. After there has been a score, the ball must be inbound from the baseline(the baseline is the wooden area behind the bottom trampoline). They will have a five second count to inbound the ball. The player that receives the ball must have two feet planted on the floor and they cannot be behind the baseline.
Defenders are permitted to enter the Slam Zone to pick of the inbound pass.
When the ball is put in place at half court, the player may pass or dribble the ball, with the clock starting when the dribble starts/when the pass is received.
Face Off
A face off occurs after a personal foul. The offensive player attacks the basket and the defensive player who committed the foul defends the basket. The offensive player must claim a trampoline which they will use to attack the trampoline. The defender must use one of the trampolines opposite the one the offensive player chooses in which to gain access to the bottom trampoline.
If the offensive players chooses to use the middle trampoline, the defender has the option of defending from either of the side trampolines.
Once the offensive players pivot foot has moved, they must attack the basket. If they move their pivot foot and lose momentum when attacking the basket the face off will be abandoned at the offensive team will retain position at half court.
If the defender is called for a rule violation at a face off, a second personal foul will be assessed with an automatic 3 points given to the offensive team. The offence will also retain possession of the ball.
After a face off the offensive team will get the ball back at half court.
If a game runs into overtime, the outcome of the game will be decided with face offs. Each team will get to put their starting stopper against three other starting players from the other team. Any points scored will be added to the teams final score. After three face offs, if the scores are no longer tied, the game will be awarded to the leading team.
